A taste of hermit life
Having finished an entire carton of Pringles today whilst sitting in front of the screen for 6 hours, and having done absolutely no work, I am truly disgusted with myself. What a waste of a life. Im turning into a vegetable - a genetically modified cabbotato (cabbage+potato). I can remain glued to the chair and not see the light of day for months on end, hell, I even tried to do my grocery shopping online. This is not good.Google, email, messenger, Ebay, Amazon, Blogger.com, I really can’t imagine life without these things now *sigh*, they've become my soulmates, life companions! Mortal souls come and go but the spirit of these live on...
Ok ok, I here you say, enough melodrama...
Well, there's no point to this post other than that I have stumbled on something useful at last on my online escapades- something called "e-learning"... "e" and "learning". What is this..eleutheromania-learning (exactly what I need), effortless-learning? maybe, no actually its electronic-learning..I thought these two words were mutually exclusive, I havent learnt anything online, unless you include my dad's forwarded email on how to not piss your parents off. That did come in useful.
Ok I didn’t believe in this E-learning thing till I sat my arse down and tried one of Columbia University’s e-seminars. They require 100% attention which seems to be better than actually going to university and listening to the droning voice of the lecturer as your eyelids get heavier and heavier. Now I feel like doing every single one but there are over a hundered of them, which take 3-5 hours each! Which means at the rate of twice a week I can get them all done in 6 months… wana bet I can do them in a week?
My favourite ones:
Art and Politics: Cultural Criticism in a Democracy— The Origins of Modern Criticism
America and the Muslim World
Nonviolent Power in Action—Gandhi
Oil in the Arab-Persian Gulf
Iran— Islam, Revolution, and the Modern State
Another unwanted distraction... im looking for the 'self-control' seminar right now, but I can't find it.
Read or Post a Comment
Honestly Bahrania, since youre into e-learning, do please try cookbook.com.
Love, Changaize
u see me laughing?
damn, where are all the feminists when you need them? Ethnic, r u there... anyone? Leave Homer's concubines and get over here :)
Why don't you go find a job or something?
Haha - I know that sounds like someone asking a bum why he doesn't just go and work at McDonalds, but I don't mean it in that way.
Honest. ;)
n-e
oh no...how dare you mention the J-word here?
You called? Dang girl, if you can sit on your butt and develope your brain, more power to you. Besides, unlike most dudes, at least when you're sitting at the pc, you're stimulating the brain that's between your shoulders.
Ethnically Incorrect: Your comment about nether-region-stimulation is about as true as saying all women can be classified as being either one of four types (see November 9 post)....
(I still like your name, though)
n-e
Lol n-e, it was said in jest. Like Bahrainia, I feel I have aspects of all four in my personality. I think most people are multi-fauceted. And I never said "all" BTW.
more like stagnation than stimulation :) I used to look at the internet as entertainment...keeping in touch with friends, shopping online, banking etc... nothing particularly useful..but now it is addictive...im losing touch with reality... i seem just to drift through life...drift drift drift without knowing where the wind will drop me... maybe its just destiny... who knows... what am i going on about now...
My kids keep me from zoning out to much in front of the pc, otherwise I might end up doing the same thing. It's just so nice to have so many things at your fingertips. If you feel you're sitting in front of it too much, turn it off. Go outside.
It's amazing how much you miss while your sitting there. Life's just buzzing by without you. Okay, no lectures. I'm outta here. :)
Destiny at your fingertips. People play Jekyl and Hyde online. I guess, for many, it is all about discovering the self and reinventing a new identity one after the other.
Have you had any luck locating the missing photograph? I liked the unintended pun - when you mentioned people like to look through fotos!
Do I envy your Konica Minolta Camera?
