I am suffering from an identity crisis which lies in my fear of adulthood; broken hopes of a utopian society; dashed dreams of an arabian prince charming; unattainable ambitious career plans; spiritual disengagement in the face of this adversity; the vulgar reality of humankind; the never-ending quest for happiness; ageing and mortality...
the first thought when i wake up every morning...am i thankful for another day of life or sorry for the delay in meeting my maker... one day I will not wake up though...i'm only too conscious of this... death is nothing to fear
this isnt a suicide death wish just in case you're wondering and i'm not depressed either...i just don't like being so aware... awareness eventually consumes you as it leads to the perception that you are no more than an ant with an intellect...a hiccup could kill you and there is 100% probability that you will be a smelly corpse in less than 100 years time...ta3addadat al-asbab wal mowt wa7idu. So to know the meaning of life, you have to know the meaning of death...
is this normal, or just the what they call the twenties-crisis?!

my dear young lady, if this is you not depressed and morbid, I'm not sure that I would want to know or be near you when you are!
As the famous poet (Mahmood Al-Yousif) said: Snap out of it.
Let's talk about Saidi and his mob squad instead, that should get your life juices flowing shouldn't it?
;)
My dear friend, do not let the smile, the pretty face or the young age deceive for beneath all this my mind is filled with the above thoughts, thoughts that we cannot easily talk about.
Are these thoughts not all about knowing thy 'self', the 'I'? How many people live through life without discovering the 'I'...and die ignorent.
Nah, that’s not an identity crisis. I doubt you’ll find a young girl or a young guy in an identity crisis lamenting about the infeasibility of a utopian society or sighing at the reality of mankind. You have probably figured out your self already and you’re just in a stage of rubbing your hands together and strategizing how to put it into use. (or if you can!)
Good luck my friend.
"dashed dreams of an arabian prince charming"
Hey i thought the boy next door won in the last article!
Love thy neighbour! :)
globe: strategy is simple: you wear two spectacles, one for this life, and one for the hereafter. Its easy to be myopic, hard to be long-visioned. I think I have an eye-test coming up soon... i don't wear glasses but always thought having spectacles would be kinda cool....
anon: i'm suspicious, either you live in my neighbourhood and are trying to come out of the closet or your the prince thats trying to detract me :)
Bahrania: hehe! Imagine all the frills that come along with being a neighbour..all those tasty dishes exchanged in Ramadan! Not sure if I would return the plates though! but alas, I am neither a prince or a neighbour :( I have lost the closet key! LOL
Secret Admirer: I have a booklet of those "freebie" tickets that you mentioned! I thought of giving them to a few people i know.. to get rid of a few blackheads, but on second thought I decided to send them to you -you could go in for the "complete" makeover package and enjoy the facelift :)
- sorry we cant change whats within. You will have to work on that yourself!
Anon: the boy next door cooks too??!? or will he bring his mother's cooking in Ramadan just so he can knock on our house door, and I can answer the door and start blushing as our eyes meet. I take the dish, my heart flutters, the next day I return the dish to the house next door, he is watching out of the window and quickly runs down to greet me... it's destiny...thats how its supposed to be...
how about you sign up to a blogger account Anon??? become part of the network :)
Bahrania: Boy next door smiles from ear to ear, develops elephant ears and start flying..only to hit a cloud and come tumbling down to hear his mother cry out "LUNCH" :)
or girl next door blushes, boy next door turns into a pumpkin!
this is starting to sound better than Snow White!
Nice scenario though, always appreciated the little things in life that make one smile :)
Thank you!
I like pumpkin!!
He'd come in useful in Halloween.
