Missing photo

A few days ago I picked up my batch of photographs from the photo processing place. A collection of 128 chosen photographs taken from thousands of digital shots collected over the last few years.

Alpine views from a Swiss hotel

I noticed however that one particular unique photo is missing. Now I don’t know if it is just a coincidence and I am being paranoid, or it is worth going back to the shop. There was one photo of me in a friend’s wedding unveiled. The thing is, its just one, there are no other photos of me in there, but it is definitely on the CD. Something smell’s fishy but I feel stupid going back to the shop having left it for a few days, and also I don’t actually want to point out the photo to the guy, as he is the main suspect.

Are they seriously that sad to look at other people’s photographs? Can you imagine telling the shop assistant every time you drop off a film, “hey buddy, do u mind not looking at my photos its just that there are some photos of yummy-looking women in there, that you can’t see.” His fantasizing mind will become gripped with the irresistible desire to have a peek.

I guess its just the fear that many girls like me have that you’re photo gets used maliciously and spread by some misogynist to dishonour you even if its by sticking ur head on a naked body and sending it by email or sticking it on a dating service for you to be the latest “hot girl on offer”. I’ve seen perfectly innocent photos being abused in this way, and the girl all of a sudden having to explain herself because of some prick getting cheap thrills. I remember even watching a whole 2-hour program about this on BTV. In some women-only weddings they even stop people using their own cameras just in case.

I’m just going to have to get one of those Kodak photo printing machines.

They don't have those machines where you just insert the disc and print what you want? Missing a picture would bother me a bit, too. I think they have to look to check the quality of the prints. That's why I print my own with one of those printing machines. You'd think if someone were nutty enough to steal a photo, they'd make two copies so the customer doesn't notice.

Ah, is that the shop on the Budaiya highway next to Al-Jazeera? I supplied them with some equipment and drop in from time to time to make sure that everything is ok. The guys in there and myself have become quite pally actually and they "share" some interesting shots sometimes, nothing malicious you understand, it's just for a laugh. Maybe that's what they did with your picture... I'll pop in tomorrow morning and have a look at the latest collection, maybe I can pick you up from the lineup!

I'll let you know how it goes...

Ethnic; yeah its a bum...i just gave the guy the CD he copied them and I picked them up the next day. So, by the assumption that he does look to check to make sure the photos are ok, then if your veiled you shouldnt really process them. Damn, we need a female only photo processing service :)

Mahmood; thanks for that one; so now its officially confirmed, these sad guys DO look at your fotos to keep themselves entertained. Maybe you wana tell them they should make double copies of the good ones instead of just taking it, that way we'd be completely oblivious. Damn, another issue on the agenda, we need segregation of the photo processing industry. Honestly, i'll suggest this to the islamist bloc in parliament for some brownie points - this is the most pressing issue facing the country today.

From what I understand women and men who have no desire for women are okay. I wonder if that means gay guys are okay to see you un-hijabed. One of those weird questions that come to mind when you have nothing else to think about.

i've got nothing against other ppl with different sexual orientations... but if gays were allowed to chk out the chicks without their hijabs, i'm sure that we'd be having many guys saying they're gay just to chk out the ladies who'd be courteous enough to take off theire hijabs cos its only gay dudes!

Makes sense to me.. but do u get it?

Bahrania, I'm quite sure that the Ashraf's in Seef has one of those do-it-yourself machines where you make printouts for yourself in the shop and then pay the cashier.

It seems like it might solve your problems... except that the machine is situated right at the entrance of the store so every passerby can see your photos as you view them on the screen... Bahrain...

Im not sure about that one Ethnic, im not in the business of determining people's sexual orientation, and im not sure where you got that from!!!

Are you gay Strav? Seems like you've been giving this alot of thought and interest :D

LOL! Well it didn't hurt to ask! Some friends and I were discussing what's muharram and non-muharram. There's part of a surah that mentions men who have no need of women; eunuchs? I understand the difference between gay and eunuchs, but Strav's point aside, neither desire women, theoretically.

I'm thinking too much outside the box?
